A WWE veteran was recently addressing the main event of AEW Full Gear and stated that they hate steel cage matches.
The main event of Full Gear 2025 featured Hangman Page defending his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match. Although the bout had its share of brutal moments, the overall response seemed lackluster. Ultimately, Joe defeated Page to become the new World Champion, aided by Hook's interference. The adverse reaction appears to stem from the increasing frequency of steel cage matches in pro wrestling, an opinion also shared by WWE veteran Dutch Mantell (fka Zeb Colter).
Mantell talked about the match on the latest episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast. The veteran believes that steel cage matches should mark the end of a rivalry. Instead, they are used too often.
"I hate cages matches. I think they are overused. Cage matches must be epitome of the end of the feud," said Mantell (1:24:01 to 1:24:15)

Dutch Mantell's views on the introduction of the AEW National Championship
A few weeks ago, Tony Khan introduced a brand-new championship, the AEW National title, to the promotion. The title was on the line at Full Gear 2025 last weekend in a Casino Gauntlet match, which Ricochet won. Ahead of the bout, however, Dutch Mantell weighed in on the decision to add a new title to the promotion, and the veteran believed it creates an unnecessary problem by diminishing the names of other belts.
"It does not only decrease the name and recognition of this belt, but of all of them. Which one is more? We used to have just one belt and a tag belt, that was it," said Mantell (1:30:42- 1:30:58).
The National Championship is Ricochet's first title in AEW. It will be interesting to see who his first title defense will be against.
