Recently, a top AEW star made a major revelation about his past with WWE. He revealed that he was about to sign a contract with the Stamford-based promotion a few years ago, alongside his brother, before they joined AEW.
Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Matt Jackson revealed that The Young Bucks were close to signing with WWE back in 2019. There have been plenty of rumors in professional wrestling over the past decade that suggested that Matt & Nick Jackson were in talks to sign with the sports entertainment juggernaut. However, in 2019, the tag team signed a multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling and have been with the promotion since then.
Speaking on Adam's Apple, The Young Bucks discussed their previous talks with WWE. Matt Jackson said they were in contract negotiations with WWE, but it didn't work out. The duo then added that they have been in such talks with the Stamford-based promotion many times in their career. Matt also said that in 2019, they were doing a pretty good job in Japan, which sparked WWE's interest in signing the duo.
“Pretty close. Like, yeah, we were almost going to sign the contract. I mean, there was never an actual physical contract, but we were negotiating. We had a groundswell at the time, with stuff we were doing in Japan and on the indies,” said Matt. [H/T: Ringside News]
