AEW star Andrade made a surprising return to the promotion during last month's special sixth anniversary episode of Dynamite. The 36-year-old was released by WWE just weeks earlier, so his appearance on AEW's premier weekly show was a welcome surprise for fans.

However, he failed to make any appearance after his re-debut, and there was no mention of his return in the weeks following the special episode. It was later revealed that Andrade had broken the 90-day non-compete clause from his WWE contract, leading to him being taken off television completely.

He hasn't been seen on television since, and his future with AEW appears to be uncertain following this development. Wrestling veteran Vince Russo criticized the Stamford-based promotion on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo for its non-compete clause and stated that what they're doing with El Idolo is unlawful. He said if nobody calls them out over this, then they're going to keep doing it to everyone.

"You cannot stop somebody from making a living. And he [David Otunga] said, "No way, no how". And you know, that's the problem, Chris. And we've talked about this, you know, those guys don't want to burn any bridges or piss anybody off because they think they're going to get called back again. B S man, that they're trying to get away with something that, you know, literally is unlawful. And if you allow them to get away with that, I mean, they're going to keep doing it to everybody else," Russo said.

AEW apparently had huge plans for El Idolo following his return. He attacked Kenny Omega on the episode and was revealed to be a new member of the Don Callis Family. It seemed like a potential showdown with the Cleaner was on the cards for the former WWE wrestler, but now everything remains unclear.

It'll be interesting to see what the creative team comes up with for Andrade if and when he returns to television.
