Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland talked about John Cena in his latest interview. The Mogul detailed his belief that Cena's relationship with Vince McMahon affected his presence in WWE. Strickland said that The Franchise Player always brought what McMahon wanted from him with his character.

Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, The New Flavor said that he watched Cena in the gorilla position, where he used to ask McMahon what he expected him to do in the ring. Upon returning, Strickland revealed that the 17-time World Champion used to go to Vince for feedback. Such a bond made McMahon realize that Cena could be someone he could rely on, making him one of the biggest names of all time.

"He’s [John Cena] the only guy I’ve ever seen, I sat in Gorilla and watched him, where before he would go out there, he would say, ‘Vince, what do you want? What are you looking for?’ And he would go out there and gave him exactly what he was looking for, exactly what he wanted. He came back, and Vince was like, ‘That’s what I was looking for.’ So Vince was like, That’s my guy to get exactly what I’m looking for, whether you agree with it or not, whether you like it or not, he’s going to come back and give this guy what he wants. And that’s why Cena is where Cena is." said Swerve [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]

Cena defeated Mysterio to become the new IC Champion in Boston this month. At Survivor Series, the two stars will compete once again in the ring to add a new chapter to their feud.

With that said, only time will tell what is in store for The Franchise Player in his last two appearances in the Stamford-based promotion.
