A top AEW faction has seemingly cleared the air after they were accused of being the perpetrators in a recent major backstage incident. They claimed that this was not their doing, despite what was previously reported.

During the AEW Men's Blood and Guts match a few days ago, Mark Briscoe was set to enter as his team's 3rd man. However, he did not come out as planned, and he was spotted lying backstage and clutching his ribs. Roderick Strong had to come out earlier than usual to fill in for him. Briscoe was able to recover and arrived late to the party as their 5th man.

Renee Paquette reported that night that the Don Callis Family was responsible for the attack on Briscoe, but she was unable to provide more specific details on the situation. They looked to be the most probable suspects, seeing as they are currently feuding with him.

Moments ago on Collision, Kyle Fletcher and Mark Briscoe got into an exchange of words ahead of their match at AEW Full Gear next weekend. Fletcher claimed that neither he nor any other member of the Don Callis Family had anything to do with the attack. He then revealed that he was one title defense away from breaking the record for the most TNT title defenses.

This is an interesting development, as the revelation has opened up a lot of questions. If this wasn't the doing of the Don Callis Family, there is a possibility that Briscoe could have been attacked either by a current ally or a member of the AEW roster who has a bone to pick with him. It remains to be seen when more information comes to light.
