AEW President Tony Khan made a major revelation about a former WWE star. Adam Copeland (fka Edge) has been one of the major stars for the Jacksonville-based promotion. The seven-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and four-time World Champion had a great history with John Cena, who is set to retire next month.
Rumors were running wild that the Rated-R Superstar was taking a hiatus from AEW to take part in John Cena's Farewell Tour. However, that was not the case as the four-time WWE Champion has been absent since All Out to film another season of Percy Jackson. The latter and Cena have a long history together, and the two have paid tribute to each other in their respective promotions.
While speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, the host asked Tony Khan if he had ever been asked by WWE to use Adam Copeland. The AEW President replied in the negative, but also hinted at the possibility of the two clashing someday again by saying, "Never say never." Khan also said that Copeland was currently absent, and he was going to be with All Elite Wrestling for the foreseeable future.
"Never say never in wrestling, because I would imagine they could always extend [John Cena's] date past the end of the year. But no – Adam's going to be here with us through the year. Adam Copeland is a huge part of AEW, and I have so much respect for him. I really, really like Adam a lot, and I'm glad to have him here. Even though he's away filming, he's still with us and will continue to be," he said. [H/T - Ariel Helwani on X]

AEW's Adam Copeland talks about the match that never happened against John Cena
When the former Edge returned to WWE in 2020, there were many opportunities for him and John Cena to lock horns, but WWE didn't book them. He also claimed the match wouldn't have worked out.
While speaking with Rock 95 Barrie, the Rated-R Superstar stated that the match wouldn't be well-received by the fans as it would involve a lot of storytelling.
“No. We had a chance. I was still there and it just didn’t feel like it was going to work out. I also think there is part of it where, you remember it really fondly. You get us in there now and it would be different. It would be a lot more storytelling and it would be a different way of presenting us, which may throw people off," Copeland said.
It remains to be seen when Adam Copeland returns to the Tony Khan-led promotion.
