AEW President Tony Khan recently revealed that a major champion would soon return to the promotion. Nick Wayne won the ROH World TV Championship in April against Komander. Unfortunately, he hasn't been defending it due to his injury.
The 20-year-old star was on the verge of getting a major push in AEW. However, days ahead of the 2025 Forbidden Door pay-per-view, he was sidelined due to a foot injury. He had matches lined up against stars like Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. When he was injured, the timeline for his return was predicted to be around November.
While speaking on ROH Final Battle's media call, Tony Khan stated that The Prodigy could be fit before the Final Battle event. He also admitted that if he had realised how long Wayne was going to be out, he would have crowned an interim champion. And now the 20-year-old was nearing his return.
“I didn’t know that a few months ago that was gonna be the case, or we probably would have crowned an Interim TV Champion for when he is back. We’re at the point now where I think Nick is getting close, hopefully to coming back, and he’s a great, young wrestler," Khan said. [H/T - Fightful]

Nicky Wayne might go after AEW star Christian Cage after returning
The Patriarchy threw out Christian Cage recently, and it seems like The Prodigy has acquired the throne.
While speaking in a backstage promo on Collision following his injury, Nick Wayne blamed the Patriarch for breaking his foot.
"My sights have never been more set in my entire life," Wayne said. "As Christian Cage, I now look at you as my target. After breaking my foot, putting me on the shelf for months, shutting the Forbidden Door right in front of my face, you thought you were putting yourself in a safe place by escaping me. But all you did was make your problems so much worse."
It remains to be seen when the 20-year-old star returns to AEW.
