Tom Pestock (aka Bishop Dyer) was a popular star in the global sports entertainment juggernaut under the ring name Baron Corbin. Shockingly, his contract wasn't renewed in November 2024, and he has been a free agent since. The two-time WWE champion has made numerous appearances on the independent circuit in the past year as Dyer.

Recently, while speaking on Notsam Wrestling Live, Paul Wight said he believed the former WWE United States Champion could help Tony Khan's promotion and improve the product. He also noted how bringing in the veteran to the company would be a "steal."

“When I look at people that can help AEW, Tom [Pestock] is a guy that I think could help our product. I really do. It’s funny, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before but I just heard him talk, I’m like, 'oh yeah, this guy can work,' and he’s not working with the other company [WWE] anymore. Holy sh*t, this is a steal," Wight said. [H/T - Fightful]

Paul Wight, a WWE veteran, has been helping Tony Khan backstage since 2021. He wasn't seen in the Jacksonville-based promotion for many months until recently. At Full Gear, he was at the commentary desk, where he called the match between QT Marshall and Big Boom A.J.

WWE veteran Baron Corbin (Bishop Dyer) has other plans before joining AEW

Fans have been asking the former WWE United States Champion what's next for him since his departure from WWE. Many have been speculating that he might be headed to Tony Khan's company.

While speaking on Chris Van Vliet's Insight, Bishop said before joining the Jacksonville-based promotion, he would like to prove his worth in NJPW, while a door back to WWE would always be open for him.

"I would love to go to New Japan [NJPW] for multiple reasons, and the door never closes with WWE either. And as far as AEW, they’re fans, they like that AEW, in a sense, is its own entity and built from the ground up. If I went there out of respect for that world, I wouldn’t want to be just another WWE guy that came there because they left WWE," Dyer said.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the former WWE star.
