Swerve Strickland may have just teased his AEW return on social media ahead of Full Gear 2025. The former World Champion's post harkened back to a bloodbath of a match he had against his former arch-nemesis, Hangman Page, at the same event two years ago.
Swerve Strickland's rivalry with The Cowboy began late in 2023, initially leading to a singles match at WrestleDream where The Realest emerged victorious. Their feud soon escalated to the realm of the deeply personal after the former leader of The Moghul Embassy broke into Page's house and stood over his son's crib to cut an ominous promo. The mutual hatred between the two stars culminated in a gruesome Texas Death Match at Full Gear 2023, which Swerve shockingly won by making Hangman pass out after hanging him with a steel chain.
Two years later, Page is now the AEW Men's World Champion, and he is set to defend the strap against Samoa Joe inside a Steel Cage at Full Gear 2025. Heading into the pay-per-view, The Hangman threatened The Samoan Submission Machine by alluding to his capacity for violence in Steel Cage bouts, referencing his infamous Lights Out match against Strickland at All Out 2024.
Just ahead of Full Gear, Swerve has taken to X/Twitter to share a photograph from his 2023 Texas Death Match against Page, potentially foreshadowing his return at the pay-per-view.

Where was Swerve Strickland last seen in action in AEW?
This past August at Forbidden Door 2025, Swerve Strickland faced off against Kazuchika Okada for his AEW Unified Championship. Despite his best efforts, the so-called "most dangerous man" in All Elite Wrestling was unable to unseat The Rainmaker, who managed to retain his belt against the former World Champion.
After the bout, Okada launched a post-match ambush on Strickland by attacking the latter's leg. Although Swerve's manager Prince Nana rushed to make the save, he himself was blindsided by the returning Wardlow, who brutally attacked Nana while an injured and restrained Strickland was forced to watch on.

It remains to be seen if Strickland will make his AEW comeback this Saturday at Full Gear.
