Swerve Strickland is currently one of the biggest names in the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, the last time we saw the Realest in action was at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 pay-per-view, where he unsuccessfully challenged Kazuchika Okada for his Unified title. It was reported shortly after that the Mogul had been suffering from a torn meniscus even before the match, for which he has since undergone surgery and is now on the path to recovery. Amid his hiatus, Strickland has been active on social media and was also recently spotted at a wrestling convention. Today, Strickland has grabbed attention online for a cryptic post he shared.

Tony Khan recently gave an update on Swerve Strickland's AEW return

During the WrestleDream 2025 media call last month, Tony Khan was answering questions from the media when a Fightful representative asked him for an update on Swerve Strickland's return to the promotion. In response, Khan said that the Mogul's recovery is on a good track and he will be back sooner rather than later.

"With Swerve [Strickland], it’s a shorter timetable. I can’t say exactly when because I’m not a doctor and I don’t want to put words in his mouth, but based on the conversations I’ve had, even today, I think he’s on a good pace and Swerve [will be back]osooner rather than later," Khan said. It will be interesting to see if Strickland can return to the company by the end of December.
