Swerve Strickland sends one-word message amid AEW hiatus

Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland recently sent out a message providing an update amid his hiatus from TV. Swerve has been out of action for more than two months now.

At the 2025 Forbidden Door, Swerve Strickland failed to capture the AEW Unified Championship from Kazuchika Okada. Swerve has not been on TV ever since, as he has been dealing with a meniscus injury and had to undergo surgery. Meanwhile, fans have been wondering when Strickland will be back in action.

Taking to X, Strickland shared a picture of himself undergoing laser therapy. He also wrote the following one-word message in the caption:

It was reported a few months ago that Swerve had been dealing with a torn meniscus for years and finally decided to go for surgery during the ongoing hiatus. There is no confirmation about when he will be back in action as of this writing.


Tony Khan recently provided an update on Swerve Strickland amid his AEW absence

Tony Khan was asked about the potential recovery time frame of Swerve Strickland and when he will be cleared to return during the WrestleDream 2025 media call. Khan assured that Swerve was recovering and could be back sooner rather than later.

"With Swerve [Strickland], it’s a shorter timetable. I can’t say exactly when because I’m not a doctor and I don’t want to put words in his mouth, but based on the conversations I’ve had, even today, I think he’s on a good pace and Swerve [will be back] sooner rather than later," Tony said.

Fans will have to wait and see when the former AEW World Champion returns to action and what creative plans are in place for him.
