Swerve Strickland made his long-awaited return to AEW TV tonight at Full Gear. He immediately went to work and put a major champion on notice by taking him out.The former AEW World Champion has not been seen since August at Forbidden Door, when he faced Kazuchika Okada for the Unified Championship. He has been dealing with his fair share of injuries, and he was reportedly set to be out for the rest of 2025.Earlier today, it was reported that Swerve Strickland was set for an imminent return to the company next month, barring any setbacks. However, much to everyone's surprise, this happened earlier than anticipated.Moments ago at Full Gear, Samoa Joe challenged 'Hangman' Adam Page for the AEW World Championship in a Steel Cage match. Amidst the many interferences in the contest, HOOK turned on Hangman and hit him with the world title belt. This allowed Joe to hit Hangman with a Muscle Buster for the win, making him the new All Elite World Champion. It seemed as if this was going to be the scene to close the show, with The Opps standing tall among all. But this all changed when Swerve Strickland made his blockbuster return. He came out, accompanied by Prince Nana, with a new theme song as he stared down Joe.He came into the ring and began to attack the members of The Opps Dojo, which were Samoa Joe's disciples. He made quick work of all of them, and along with Hangman, was able to set them all running. The two former rivals stood tall while Joe watched all this unfold from the entrance ramp. It is safe to say that despite him becoming the new AEW World Champion, things are far from over in this feud, and it will be interesting to see how the fallout of Full Gear will turn out.
