Swerve Strickland is one of the biggest stars in AEW. However, he recently commented on a current WWE star.
Je'Von Evans has proved himself to be a rising star in NXT. He has gained a lot of traction in recent years and has caught the attention of several main roster stars. He has already competed against stars like Randy Orton and Gunther, and even took them to the limit during their matches. Now, Swerve has also commented on him.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Swerve Strickland admitted that Je'Von Evans is better than he was at 21, but he's supposed to be better than the wrestlers who paved the way for him, since that is how evolution works. He also noted that Je'Von needs to find the intangible that makes him unique.
"It's not an insult to say Je'Von Evans is better than Swerve. I'm like, “Yes, he is. At 21 years old, he is better.” I have more intangibles because I've learned those things on the Indies, but he’s currently in the WWE system now at 21. He's supposed to be better, because who was he watching? He was watching myself. He's told me to my face. He's watched me and Lio Rush and guys like that. He took it to the next level, which is what we did. Ricochet watched the same guys. He watched Rey Mysterio and took it to the next level, because that's what evolution is supposed to be. I have all these other intangibles that just make me…me. I can't wait to see the intangible that he finds that makes Je'Von…Je'Von.” [H/T thebackstagebrawl on Instagram]

It looks like Je'Von Evans has also managed to impress WWE legend John Cena. During this week's episode of NXT, Cena showed up in a pre-taped segment to announce the participants of the men's Iron Survivor Challenge.
John Cena selected Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater to participate in the match and also called them the future of this business.
"When you talk about the future of this business, no two names come to mind faster than Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater from TNA. A pair of 21-year-olds who are way ahead of their time, fun to watch, and look to big things at the road ahead."
It will be interesting to see if Je'Von Evans will live up to the all the hype he has gotten so far.
