A top AEW star recently made a controversial claim stating that he's better than WWE legend Rey Mysterio. The comment has sparked a frenzy among fans online, who have brutally trolled the star.

The star in question is Ricochet, who is on a high in the Jacksonville-based promotion right now, having emerged as the newly crowned AEW National Champion after winning a Casino Battle Royal for the title at Full Gear last Saturday. Many would know that the Future of Flight has, over time, earned a reputation for being outspoken and pompous on social media. However, the persona is an extension of his heel gimmick in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Earlier today, in typical Ricochet style, the One and Only made another controversial remark on X, stating that he is better than WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. It is worth noting that Ricochet was responding to comments made by wrestling legend Bret Hart, who in a recent interview called Mysterio the greatest wrestler of all time.

AEW star Will Ospreay puts Rey Mysterio on his Mount Rushmore of cruiserweight wrestlers.

While Ricochet has consistently criticized Mysterio, his fellow AEW teammate Will Ospreay recently praised the legend. An X account posted a thread asking users to name their Mount Rushmore of cruiserweight stars. The post received a response from Aerial Assassin, who included the WWE Hall of Famer in his comment.

"Me personally; Rey Mysterio, Hayabusa, Naomichi Marufuji & Dragon Kid," Ospreay wrote.
