Earlier this month, All Elite Wrestling unveiled a brand new title, the AEW National Championship, and revealed that the inaugural holder of the belt will be decided by a Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear 2025. The bout featured many of the company's top names and athletes, including Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, Kevin Knight, Mike Bailey and Ricochet, to name just a few of the competitors involved.

Ultimately, it was The Future of Flight who successfully captured the victory in the Casino Gauntlet bout, nailing Knight with his Spirit Gun finisher to secure his first singles title in All Elite Wrestling and becoming the first-ever AEW National Champion. Now, Ricochet has taken to X/Twitter to share a photograph of himself with his newly-won belt alongside his wife, former WWE announcer Samantha Irvin.

AEW's Ricochet lashed out against a former wrestling booker

Some time earlier, AEW star Will Ospreay, who is currently on the shelf after surgery, responded to a social media clip of some people engaged in backyard wrestling in their home. Former wrestling booker Jim Cornette seemingly did not take kindly to The Aerial Assassin's approval of the video, using it as a pretext to point to his neck issues and to critique his in-ring style.

Ricochet, however, came to Ospreay's defense on X/Twitter, lashing out at Cornette by arguing that old-school wrestlers who worked comparatively "safe" styles have also suffered from various kinds of injuries, and needed to undergo surgeries for them too.

"Didn't a bunch of the old school guys have knee, back, hip, neck and all other types of surgeries/injuries? Weren't they working smart? You sound f*****g dumb as s**t."

Cornette fired back at The Human Highlight Reel by claiming that there was a distinction between modern spots and bumps from back in the day, going so far as to state that Ricochet and his peers "steal money" from Tony Khan by way of critiquing their work.
