Paul Wight (FKA The Big Show) has recently shared some health updates, following his hiatus from the ring. This comes amidst an uncertain future in AEW, as it is unclear whether he'll be competing anytime soon. The former WWE Champion's last match for the Jacksonville-based promotion was in November 2023 during a Street Fight on Dynamite. He teamed up with the likes of Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Kota Ibushi to take on members of the Don Callis Family.During his recent appearance on Notsam Wrestling Live, Paul Wight talked about his current physical condition. He mentioned how he has had several major surgeries in the past few years, and they have all been performed on various parts of his body. He seemed to no longer be fazed when he would need to undergo a procedure.“Dude, I’m hoping — it’s just a week-by-week thing. I had a small back surgery done a couple months ago… You play long enough, the bill comes due. I’ve had a major surgery every frickin’ year! For about the past five — whether it’s a knee surgery or a hip surgery… I feel like that old pickup truck. Like, OK, what’s broken now?”The veteran mentioned how Tony Khan has been supportive of him this entire time, and he has his mind set about not leaving AEW anytime soon. This could lead him to his in-ring return eventually.“Tony Khan’s been extremely supportive, so we’re just plugging away. I don’t plan on going anywhere. I like being in AEW.” [H/T RSN]WrestlePurists @WrestlePuristsLINKPaul Wight comments on potentially wrestling again in the future, says he isn’t ready to hang up the boots yet: “It’s just a week-by-week thing. I had a small back surgery done a couple months ago… I’ve had like a major surgery every frickin’ year for about the past five,Paul Wight made an appearance at AEW Full GearPaul Wight has not been completely active on-screen, as he has mostly been backstage or around for several events of the company, including some launches or fan events. At Full Gear, he made an appearance during the Tailgate Brawl pre-show. Similar to last year's pay-per-view, he was at ringside for Big Boom AJ's match. This time, he was working commentary and was watching AJ team up with QT Marshall to take on RPG Vice.He even ended up getting physical later on, landing a K.O. Punch that would be important for Boom and Doom to score the win.It is unclear if that is any indication that Paul Wight could make a return to the ring. He is, unfortunately, a shell of his past self, so it may benefit him to compete in lesser-intensity matches on PPV pre-shows. Him teaming up with Big Boom AJ in the future would be interesting to see.
