The main event of Full Gear 2025 witnessed the crowning of a new AEW World Champion. Hangman Page lost his strap to his opponent after experiencing a massive betrayal from his recent tag team partner and ally.Last month at WrestleDream 2025, Adam Page retained his Men's World Championship against Samoa Joe. In a shocking turn of events, despite their prior alliance, The Samoan Submission Machine betrayed and turned on The Cowboy, viciously attacking him along with The Opps after the match. Determined to "ruin" Joe's life in retaliation, Page carried out a wily ambush on The Destroyer after he earned another shot at the AEW World Title scheduled for Full Gear. The so-called "Main Character" of All Elite Wrestling defeated Powerhouse Hobbs in a Falls Count Anywhere match at Dynamite: Blood and Guts. After the bout, Joe and Katsuyori Shibata tried to beat him down inside the Blood and Guts cage, but thankfully, Eddie Kingston and Hook arrived to make the save. Page then challenged The Samoan Submission Specialist to face him for the World Championship inside a Steel Cage. This Saturday at Full Gear, The Hangman rode into battle with Joe, entering the match with a new theme song. The showdown did not take long to turn bloody, as both stars battered each other with their heaviest shots and used the steel cage itself as a weapon. At one point, Shibata tried running interference for Joe, costing Page a pinfall, although Eddie Kingston intercepted him. Powerhouse Hobbs then arrived, although Hangman managed to turn the tables on him.In the closing stretch of the match, Page managed to land the Buckshot Lariat on Joe. However, Hook then rushed to the ring, and after feigning to rouse the unconscious referee, he grabbed the World Title belt and hit Hangman on the head with it, turning heel in the process. Joe then delivered a Muscle Buster and pinned Page to become the AEW World Champion in a shocking upset.Afterward, Joe, The Opps, and members of their dojo celebrated the title change until they were interrupted by the return of Swerve Strickland.Match results for AEW Full Gear 2025All Elite Wrestling hosted the 2025 iteration of Full Gear in Newark, NJ, this Saturday.
