On the November 13 edition of AEW Blood and Guts 2025, WWE Hall of Famer Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat was scheduled to make an appearance. Following the Falls Count Anywhere match between Hangman Adam Page and Powerhouse Hobbs, Tony Schiavone was in the ring to introduce him. The Dragon came out to a thunderous ovation from the audience in the historic First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Steamboat began to reflect on his journey in professional wrestling, having competed in significant bouts in Greensboro. He even acknowledged a fan holding a sign that called Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Sting, and Ric Flair the Mount Rushmore of Greensboro. However, the heartfelt address was interrupted by the arrival of the top AEW tag team, FTR members Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, along with their manager, Stokely.

The tag team had praise for Ricky Steamboat, with Harwood calling Steamboat his mentor who taught him a lot of things in the business. However, this quickly turned into a heated back-and-forth between Steamboat and FTR. At the same time, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion realised it was not wise to get into an altercation with them, being 73 years old, and chose to walk away when FTR told him to do so.

As he was exiting the ring, Cash Wheeler grabbed him, and Dax Harwood began landing punches on the legendary superstar. The duo were about to deliver a double team Piledriver on Steamboat when their arch-rivals, Bandido and Brody King, arrived to come to the aid of the WWE legend. FTR chose to retreat and instead wait for their chance to get their hands on Brodido at Full Gear 2025, where they will challenge them for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
