A major AEW star has just revealed the reasoning why they are no longer an active in-ring competitor for the company. They discussed the realization they had, which led them to no longer want to wrestle as often.

QT Marshall has been a long-time part of the All Elite Wrestling roster, as he also has a major role backstage as Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination. He briefly departed the company in late 2023, but returned after coming to a new agreement with Tony Khan.

While speaking to Dennis Salcedo, he went into detail about what changed and made him return to AEW. He mentioned how he concluded that he wasn't happy with coming to work, without knowing whether he'd be competing or not.

“You know, in 2023, I left AEW, right? And there was a lot of reasons that people thought. And mainly the main reason was I just wasn’t happy. I had to figure out what was going to make me happy. And honestly, what made me happy was not having to—for me, it was not having to come to work every week with my gear bag wondering what could happen.”

Upon speaking to Tony Khan, they were able to reach an agreement. He wanted to go to work to focus more on the backstage side of things. He mentioned how this was an easy decision, and this has taken the weight off his shoulders.

“So when I spoke to Tony afterwards, you know, we decided like, ‘Hey, I’m just not going to wrestle.’ And I was like, ‘Great. I can come there with a backpack. I don’t have to worry. I just worry about the office work.’ I don’t have to stress about, you know, if you need someone for match number three or whatever. And I know I’m a great guy to do it—now I don’t have to say, ‘Oh, that could be me.’” [H/T RSN]

QT Marshall is set to make AEW in-ring return this weekend

To his core, QT Marshall is still a wrestler, but it seems like he is doing all of this now on his terms. He is set to be part of this weekend's Tailgate Brawl right before AEW Full Gear. Last year, Marshall returned to the ring and began a feud with Big Boom A.J. This concluded with their bout at last year's edition of Full Gear.

This time around, they will be teaming up to take on a common enemy, the Don Callis Family. Now known as Boom & Doom, they will be taking on RPG Vice in tag team action. This is set to be QT's AEW in-ring return for the first time since AEW World End Zero Hour last year.

This should be an entertaining match, as Big Boom AJ has constantly proven that he can hang with some of the stars on the roster. With QT Marshall by his side, they should have a fighting chance.
