The star also revealed that he used his former partner as a pawn for weeks. The AEW star HOOK opened up on his recent heel turn. The 26-year-old star shocked everyone by attacking and costing Hangman Page the All Elite Wrestling World title at Full Gear 2025 and helping Samoa Joe become the champion during the main event. HOOK also revealed that he is still a member of The Opps despite not being with the group for months.During this week's Dynamite, HOOK sat down with Alicia Atout for an interview, where he finally explained his actions at Full Gear. HOOK revealed that it's been planned that Samoa Joe will win the world title, and he never left The Opps. He also disclosed that he used his former partner, Eddie Kingston as a pawn to get close to Hangman:"Why? Well, see it's been planned for months to get Joe the world title. Thing is I really never left The Opps, and you can look back at Double or Nothing, I didn't hit Joe with that golf club did I? And Hangman? this guy's a mess. This guy, Hangman doesn't know who he is, and that makes him weak. Joe? he knows exactly who and what he is, a killer and a champion. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't betray Eddie [Kingston] at all, I just used him as a pawn to get a little bit closer to Hangman," HOOK explained.AEW star admitted that the top faction is his familyThe AEW star HOOK was also asked during his interview whether he helped Samoa Joe at Full Gear 2025 to prove his loyalty towards the top faction, The Opps. HOOK answered that he indeed did it to prove his loyalty towards The Opps, as Powerhouse Hobbs, Katsuyori Shibata, and Joe are his family:"One hundred percent, I mean, Hobbs is like my big brother, Shibata has been a great friend, coach, mentor and Joe, Joe's like my uncle from a young age. I mean The Opps are my family," HOOK stated.Only time will tell what's next for HOOK.If taking bits from the above quotes, credit 'AEW on X' and h/t 'Sportskeeda Wrestling' for transcription.
