Tony Khan is the co-founder and president of AEW. The company was founded in 2019, and over the years, it has signed numerous prominent names in professional wrestling. Their current roster has an amazing blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talents.

Former three-time WWE United States Champion, Rusev (fka Miro), was signed to All Elite Wrestling from 2020 to 2025. His time in the Jacksonville-based company was polarising. Even though he held the TNT Championship once, his overall run in the promotion was underwhelming. He is now back in World Wrestling Entertainment, and it looks like he is a better fit there.

Tony Khan was recently interviewed by Ariel Helwani. In this conversation, he spoke about the former Miro and explained that the 39-year-old left because they had creative differences. The Bulgarian native was also excited to rejoin his previous company.

"We just kind of drifted into some different ideas of what we thought we should be doing, and that's okay. He’d worked in WWE before, and that clearly was a good experience for him. So he clearly was excited to go back, and he did go back. I wish him the best, that's what he's doing now. But, that must make sense for him, and that must be why he wanted to do it,” Tony Khan said. Tony Khan calls Rusev a great wrestler

In the above interview, Khan heaped praise on the former Miro and said that they had different visions of things.

"Miro is a great wrestler, and he was great in AEW. He was a TNT Champion. I think he and I just had, at times, different visions of things. But that's okay, because everybody's entitled to different opinions and different ideas," Khan said.

It is unlikely that Rusev will ever return to AEW. However, stranger things have happened in professional wrestling.
