Tony Khan has come under criticism from a lot of people in recent years. A former WWE name is the latest to join in.

Vince Russo is the latest to comment on Tony Khan. Ever since AEW first launched in 2019, Tony has played the role of a booker. While he was praised for his long-term storytelling during the company's early years, he has come under heavy scrutiny as of late for his booking decisions that often seem wayward and half-baked.

During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Vince Russo said that Triple H and Tony Khan are booking for themselves, thereby turning the product into a niche audience. This niche audience likes 90% wrestling. He also noted that there should be a little bit of everything, like the Attitude Era.

"Triple H and Tony Khan are writing a wrestling show that they like. By writing a wrestling show that they like, they have turned the audience into a niche audience. There's only a niche audience that likes 90% wrestling. It's not about what they like... You need to have a little bit of everything. That's what the attitude era was. We had something for everybody." [H/T Ariel Helwani on X]

Eric Bischoff explained why he lost respect for Tony Khan

Tony Khan tweeted in 2021 that if Ted Turner knew 1 percent about professional wrestling as he did, then WCW would still be around. This comment didn't sit well with Eric Bischoff, and he made his feelings known about the AEW boss.

Speaking with Action, Eric Bischoff said that Tony's comment about Ted Turner made him lose a little respect for the AEW boss. He also said that Tony doesn't understand the business he is in. He has a lot of money and is not accountable to anybody.

"Tony [Khan] made some ridiculous comment to the effect of, ‘If Ted Turner knew 1% about professional wrestling as I do, WCW would still be around’. It was such a profoundly stupid thing to say that it made me lose respect for Tony. It also indicated to me that Tony doesn’t really understand the business he’s in. Tony has the benefit of having a couple billion dollars behind him. He doesn’t really need to worry about performance from a revenue perspective, because he’s not really accountable to anybody," Bischoff said. [H/T - Fightful]

Tony needs to listen to the criticism so that he can build a better product for the fans.
