After weeks of speculation about his contract status with WWE and AEW, Andrade finally provided some clarification on his current situation during a recent interview. The luchador seemingly corrected a veteran wrestling journalist on social media a few hours earlier, which has elicited a witty response from his former manager, Jose The Assistant.

After his shocking AEW return on the Six-Year Anniversary episode of Dynamite last month, and a subsequent title win at The Crash Lucha Libre in Tijuana, Andrade seemingly disappeared from action. Soon afterward, rumors surfaced that this was due to WWE sending All Elite Wrestling a cease-and-desist order to enforce a reportedly year-long non-compete clause that his appearance in the company had supposedly violated.

During a recent interview, El Idolo shed further light on the situation, stating that his lawyer at the time had missed the non-compete clause in his contract, that he was in talks with WWE to resolve their dispute, and that he had parted ways with the Stamford-based company on good terms. Dave Meltzer questioned some of Andrade's claims and also suggested the possibility that he had signed a deal with AEW, although the former NXT Champion quickly responded to the veteran journalist, asserting that he, in fact, had not signed a contract with the Tony Khan-led company.

Andrade's post addressing Meltzer elicited a response from his former on-screen manager from All Elite Wrestling, Jose The Assistant, who made a witty allusion to Meltzer's star-rating system, writing:

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 rating for this tweet. 😂," tweeted Jose.

Prior to being released by All Elite Wrestling last year, Jose was the manager of LFI, which Andrade had once been a member of, and currently comprises Rush, Dralistico, Sammy Guevara, and The Beast Mortos.

AEW CEO Tony Khan on Andrade's legal situation

During his recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan spoke about Andrade and his ongoing contractually imposed hiatus. The AEW head honcho noted that he had been elated to see El Idolo return to his promotion, and said that he would be keeping an eye on his situation, and reiterated that the star is welcome back to All Elite Wrestling whenever he becomes available.

"I had a great experience with him, and he left on the best of terms. And now, when he said he was free and made his one night appearance, I was thrilled to see him again. Anytime he's free – whenever that is – he is absolutely always welcome… It is an interesting situation that I am going to keep an eye on, but I absolutely think the world of Andrade El Idolo,” Khan said.

It remains to be seen when Andrade returns to the Jacksonville-based company.
