Matt Hardy has made an interesting revelation about a major WWE legend's run in AEW. He discussed some what-ifs, but ultimately focused on how they were in a better place now.
The Hardy Boyz did not join the Jacksonville-based promotion at the same time. Matt joined in 2020, while his brother came in two years later. Unfortunately, there came a point when the Charismatic Enigma was suspended due to driving under the influence. He went away for a while and returned for one more brief run with his brother until they left the company last year and made their way to TNA.
During a recent episode of the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran mentioned how his brother felt like he was the reason for their lapses in AEW. He mentioned how this was indeed the case, but that Jeff was remorseful for it.
"He felt like he was part of the reason our downfall happened in AEW, and to a degree he was...If you have a tag team partner in pro wrestling, it often affects you when your tag team partner makes a mistake, and Jeff felt really, really terrible about it."

He mentioned how now the two of them were in a better place, and they were able to move forward after not being happy with what they were doing.
"That makes me happy, because for the longest time, he was so down on himself...During those times in AEW, there were times where both myself and Jeff. Especially me when I was there and not doing anything...like, I love this, but kind of this doesn't feel like something I love, right now." said Matt Hardy. [H/T WrestlingInc.]
Matt Hardy is open to pursue singles gold
Similar to how it was in AEW, the Hardy Boyz did not join TNA at the same time. But it did not take long. Matt joined the promotion two months before his brother, and when they finally reunited, they immediately went on a great run as a duo.
After being asked about pursuing singles gold, Matt Hardy revealed that he was only open to doing so if his brother was incapacitated. If a situation like that were to happen, he was willing to make a run for a world title and do everything he could for the company.
"But, say if something happened and Jeff was hurting on his own, like I wouldn't be opposed or if he had to be out for an extended amount of time, I wouldn't be opposed to having a TNA run for a world championship, you know, and possibly trying to do what I could to to pitch in and contribute and help with the company if need be. So I don't know, but once again, I would never say never."
The Hardys are currently the TNA Tag Team Champions and have been on a roll over the past year. They look to be in great form, and it will be interesting to see where this takes them.
