A new AEW World Champion was crowned in the shocking conclusion of Full Gear 2025. Now, fans are sharing their outrage over Hangman Page losing his strap merely months after winning it from Jon Moxley.

After Adam Page defeated Powerhouse Hobbs in a Falls Count Anywhere match at Dynamite : Blood and Guts, he was ambushed by the former TNT Champion's stable-mates, Katsuyori Shibata and his 2025 World Title challenger, Samoa Joe. The Destroyer had planned to weaken Page by beating him down inside the Blood and Guts cage, but Eddie Kingston and Hook arrived to even the odds for The Cowboy, who then challenged Joe to face him for his belt inside a Steel Cage.

The Hangman defended the AEW World Championship against The Samoan Submission Machine in the main event of Full Gear 2025 this Saturday. Page fought tooth and nail to hold on to his strap, despite interferences from Shibata (who was neutralized by Kingston) and Hobbs (whom Hangman managed to incapacitate himself). However, it was Hook who served as the difference maker as he turned on Page, battering him with his World Title belt, and allowing Joe to seal the deal and secure the championship with his Muscle Buster.

Fans have since logged on to X/Twitter to share their thoughts on Hangman Page being unseated as AEW World Champion by Samoa Joe, only a few months after his massive triumph at All In : Texas. Most users critiqued the decision, with one fan noting that MJF would have served as a more suitable candidate to dethrone the "Main Character" of All Elite Wrestling, especially in light of their feud earlier this year.

A former AEW World Champion returned after Full Gear main event

After pinning Adam Page to win the All Elite Wrestling Men's World Championship for the second time at AEW Full Gear, Samoa Joe celebrated his title win with Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs, Hook (who revealed himself to have been aligned with him all along) and members of the Opps dojo. The gathering would be interrupted, however, by the shocking return of Prince Nana and his client, former World Champion Swerve Strickland.

The Realest made his way to the ring, and was seemingly invited by Joe to pick on the bones of a bloodied and battered Hangman. However, Strickland instead chose to attack the trainees of The Opps dojo, and closed out the show standing side by side with Page to stare down the retreating heel faction and its leader.
