A former WWE manager has shared his opinion on Tony Khan's choice to add the National title to AEW and discussed the biggest issue with this decision.
An hour before last week's AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan went live on X to introduce a new title called the National Title into the promotion. The belt, which is inspired by NWA's National title, will be up for grabs at Full Gear 2025, where a new champion will be crowned through a Casino Gauntlet Match. The decision has caused an uproar in the wrestling industry, and the most recent wrestling personality to have seemingly criticised the decision was former WWE manager Dutch Mantell.
Mantell (aka Zeb Colter), who managed Jack Hager (fka Jack Swagger) and Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro) between 2013 and 2016 in WWE, discussed the title launch on the latest episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast. The veteran criticized the move, saying that having too many belts diminishes the importance of each one.
"It does not only decrease the name and recognition of this belt, but of all of them. Which one is more? We used to have just one belt and a tag belt, that was it," said Mantell (1:30:42- 1:30:58).

Dutch Mantell slams Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize for walkout incident on AEW Collision
On a different note, in the same edition of Story Time, Dutch Mantell weighed in on the recent walkout controversy involving ex-WWE star Nixon Newell and her partner, Miranda Alize. The veteran criticized the duo for their decision, implying they don't understand the business side of things.
“They don’t know how much money it took to put that show on, how much money Tony Khan spends on that show, but they’re going to go out there and all they’re thinking about is themselves. They could always say, ‘We didn’t mind losing, but we just didn’t want to lose in three minutes.’ So, I said, ‘Okay, you got three minutes and fifteen seconds.’ I would lengthen it just a little bit. But that’s what you’re going to run into, it’s been around forever." he said
It will be interesting to see if Newell and Alize will ever be booked in AEW again.
