Mercedes Mone's hopes of winning her 14th title at AEW Full Gear were shattered. Not only that, the night also marked the end of an interesting streak she had claimed. The CEO was scheduled to face Kris Statlander for the AEW Women's World Championship at the show. It was their second encounter at Full Gear, following their match from last year, in which Mercedes Mone retained the TBS Championship against Statlander. This year, it was Statlander who defended her title against 'The Ultimo Mone.'The action kicked off with both women engaging in a back-and-forth exchange. However, as the match picked up pace, Mercedes Mone gained the upper hand over The Cosmic Killer and was on the offensive for a long time. From submission holds, powerful moves, and even some trash-talking spots, she dominated Kris Statlander evidently. Moreover, Mone went to great lengths with the 3 Amigos move by delivering a total of 14 suplexes at once to commemorate her 13 championships and the 14th belt she wanted to win - the AEW Women's World Championship. However, it took a lot of energy out of The CEO after hitting multiple suplexes on the much larger Statlander. The former WWE Superstar then attempted a top rope move, but Statlander got her knees up and hit Mone directly in the face to buy some time. She turned the momentum in her favor for a brief while before Mone regained control. However, a Meteora attempt outside the ring resulted in Statlander catching her and dropping her to the mat.The defending champion rolled into the ring, and Mercedes Mone made it back by the close nine-count. The match continued inside the squared circle, becoming an evenly matched showdown as both competitors hit each other with the best moves in their arsenal. However, the final moments of the captivating showdown saw Statlander reversing a turnbuckle move from Mone and hitting her with the Staturday Night Fever to retain her AEW Women's World Championship. Moreover, it also marked Statlander's first win over Mone, who had defeated her twice in All Elite Wrestling, and finally rose above as a legitimate force to be reckoned with.
