At CMLL Viernes Espectacular, Claudio Castagnoli made his way to Arena Mexico as he challenged Gran Guerrero for the company's world heavyweight championship. The Swiss star was able to dethrone the luchador, marking the end of a 1,117-day reign as the champion, which started in November 2022.

Wheeler Yuta, who was one of the members of the group who flew to Mexico for the end, took to social media to congratulate Claudio for his monumental victory. He took to his Instagram stories and reposted a picture they took after the event, and called his Death Riders comrade "El Campeón".

This was no ordinary feat from the group, as, despite losing the AEW world title, they have now captured one of the biggest prizes in the wrestling world.

The rest of the Death Riders were unsuccessful during their CMLL campaign

Claudio Castagnoli was not the only member of the group who was in action during yesterday's show. Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia also made an appearance as they challenged for the CMLL World Tag Team titles.

The duo challenged Angel de Oro and Niebla Roia, also known as Los Hermanos Chavez. This was an important night for Yuta and Garcia, as they were making their debuts in Arena Mexico for the luchador promotion. Despite a valiant effort, however, they were unsuccessful in winning the belts.

Overall, the Death Riders had a successful trip to Arena Mexico as they were able to secure the biggest prize of them all. Now the rest of the group is focused on the Continental Classic, as they are looking to add yet another belt to their collection. With three members entered into the tournament, their chance of success has increased.
