One of AEW's top stars and champions has officially been revealed as Hiroshi Tanahashi's final pro-wrestling opponent. The talent in question, Kazuchika Okada, was one of the New Japan Pro-Wrestling ace's most iconic rivals from his time in the Tokyo-based promotion. In October last year, Hiroshi Tanahashi had announced that he would be wrapping up his career as an active competitor. The "Ace of The Universe" has been performing actively throughout 2025, wrestling what could be one of his last AEW matches this past August at Forbidden Door, securing the win for his team in a brutal Lights Out Steel Cage Match against The Death Riders. Earlier this month, he unsuccessfully challenged Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title, and a few days later teamed with deathmatch legend Jun Kasai at an event in Saitama, Japan. Tanahashi was in action this Saturday at NJPW New Japan Road in Anjo, where he defeated Yuto-Ice in a singles bout. Following his post-match promo, the legend was about to leave when his old rival Kazuchika Okada made his stunning appearance at the event. The AEW Unified Champion, accompanied by Gedo, challenged the New Japan President to face him in his final match at Wrestle Kingdom 20, set to take place next year on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome. In the last of their many one-on-one encounters, at The New Beginning in Osaka last year, Okada had emerged victorious against Tanahashi. It remains to be seen if the 48-year-old will be triumphant in his retirement match next year. Kazuchika Okada appealed to his friends on AEW television to join his new stableFor several weeks now, Don Callis has been attempting to convince The Young Bucks to join his "family" by seemingly extending to the former EVPs the respect and esteem they have recently been lacking. To help Matt and Nick Jackson with the financial woes they have been dealing with as of late, The Invisible Hand secured for the duo a Million Dollar Tag Match for AEW Full Gear 2025, which will pit them, along with Josh Alexander, against Jurassic Express and Kenny Omega. This week on AEW Dynamite, Renee Paquette interviewed The Bucks alongside Callis and The Walking Weapon, and asked Matt and Nick if they had officially joined the star-studded heel stable. While the "Founding Fathers" were shy to answer decisively, Callis insisted that he had their best interests at heart, and even brought in their former Elite teammate Kazuchika Okada to help make his case. The Bucks said that they needed some more time to consider, a decision that the villainous manager seemed to accept for the time being. It remains to be seen if The Young Bucks will finally join the Don Callis Family at Full Gear, or if they will reunite The Elite with Kenny Omega.
