Samoa Joe has reached the top of AEW again after winning the World Championship at Full Gear. In doing so, the Samoan Submission Machine achieved a historic milestone in the promotion. At Full Gear 2025, Samoa Joe defeated Hangman Page to win the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career. The brutal steel cage match was a gruesome affair that concluded when Hook shockingly intervened in favor of Joe and took out Page with the title. On the following Dynamite, Joe, Opps, and Hook came out to celebrate his victory, but the group was interrupted by Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland, and a fight broke out. It seems the new World Champion now has two of All Elite Wrestling's most prominent faces to deal with going forward. Amid his struggles, Joe's historic milestone was recognized. The Samoan Submission Machine, who also holds the World Trios title, became the first-ever Double World Champion in the promotion. AEW celebrated the feat with a post on X."With his win at #AEWFullGear, @SamoaJoe became the only double World Champion in [All Elite Wrestling] history: the current and two-time World Champion and one-third of the reigning World Trios Champions."Tony Khan wants Samoa Joe to be part of AEW foreverIn a recent interview with Z100 New York, Tony Khan was asked about Samoa Joe's recent remarks regarding his upcoming retirement. Khan expressed hope that the Samoan Submission Machine will continue working with the Jacksonville-based promotion even after he hangs up his boots."I'm very optimistic that eventually, whenever Samoa Joe does decide to retire from the ring, I'm very hopeful and optimistic that Samoa Joe will stay with us in [All Elite Wrestling] and be a mentor to the wrestlers. Not unlike Bryan Danielson, who is still a huge part of [All Elite Wrestling], even though he's not actively competing in the ring. He's been now for one year away from wrestling since Wrestle Dream last year, but he's still a huge part of [All Elite Wrestling] and continues to be. And my hope is that Samoa Joe will stay with us in [All Elite Wrestling ] forever." [H/T - Wrestling Inc]We at Sportskeeda congratulate Samoa Joe for his historic achievement in All Elite Wrestling.
