While Chris Jericho is still under contract with All Elite Wrestling, he has not been on TV since his last appearance back in April. Jericho's contract is reportedly set to expire at the end of this year, and he has been rumored to return to the WWE for quite some time as well. Multiple companies, including the Stamford-based promotion, are reportedly interested in using him as well.

Amid the rampant rumors of his WWE return, Chris Jericho made a reference to John Cena ahead of his retirement. Taking to his Instagram handle, Jericho shared a story recalling Cena's first-ever PLE match at Vengeance 2002, where the two faced each other. Y2J also referenced Cena's last-ever PLE match before his retirement against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series 2025.

Chris Jericho on if he wants a retirement tour like John Cena

While John Cena has been on his retirement tour throughout 2025, Chris Jericho shared his opinion on whether he wants something similar. Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Jericho admitted that he doesn't have the ego to demand a retirement tour:

"I don’t know if I want that much pomp and circumstance. Obviously, I’m not sure if that’s John’s idea or if it’s the company’s idea. The big retirement match, that’s a lot of pressure, you put a lot of pressure on yourself like Sting with his last one. It was so good, but imagine if it wasn’t. ... To me, I just kind of go with the flow and see where I am. But once again, I do not have the ego that would demand an official retirement tour or retirement match," Jericho said.

Fans will have to wait and see if Jericho will be back in WWE before retirement.
