Chris Jericho and Adam Copeland have just been named as two individuals that WWE should have tapped for one of its major events. A certain veteran believed this should ideally have been the case.The promotion is putting its full focus on John Cena's The Last Time is Now Tournament, as it is almost a week till the scheduled date for the icon's retirement match. The tournament winner will have the honor of retiring Cena on the December 13th edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.That individual will join the many others who have had the opportunity to face the 17-time world champion across his retirement tour. During a recent interview on the All Axxess podcast, Cena's father named four individuals whom he thought should have been his son's final opponent. These were Kurt Angle, Adam Copeland, Chris Jericho, and JBL.Unfortunately, half of these names are retired, while the rest are currently under contract with AEW.John Cena Sr. believes WWE should not choose Gunther as his son's final opponentAs of now, the tournament is down to two more competitors. These are Gunther and LA Knight. Both of these individuals have yet to face off with John Cena this year in singles competition, so it will be interesting to see which of the two comes out as the victor.During the same interview, Cena's father gave his take on the matter, saying the Ring General was the wrong opponent for his son. This was not a criticism of him, but he thought that Gunther did not need the match.“Well it certainly wouldn’t be Gunther, that’s for sure. I don’t think that that’s a wise move. I don’t think the fans would enjoy that move. Myself, personally, Gunther does not need the rub. By the way, I’m not a fan of on the way out you’ve got to push somebody over the top. You’re supposed to pass quote unquote the torch. I don’t know whether that’s written anywhere in professional wrestling," he said.
