Matthews has not been seen in the ring since February at Grand Slam: Australia. It was during this night that he sustained an ankle injury during his match against Kazuchika Okada. Unfortunately, the recovery did not go according to plan, and he has yet to recover from this.

Buddy Matthews took to Instagram to share that he has been making great progress and has been able to keep himself in shape despite his absence from the ring. The AEW star posted a video of himself hitting six repetitions of doing a 335-pound chest press.

Buddy Matthews posts a good update on his injury recovery

Despite it being several months since he last got to step foot in the ring, the Australian star has continued to persevere in his recovery from injury.

Just over a week ago, Buddy Matthews revealed that it was the first time since surgery that he was able to hit a hack squat. He mentioned how he still had concerns with mobility and numbness, but mentioned how it was great progress. He looked to take things a day at a time.

"UPDATE: Today was the first time since surgery to hit a hack squat - still very restricted with ankle mobility but working on it daily! Numbness is still a factor but hopefully subsides in the near future but still unknown at this time. Swelling depends on the amount of rehab I've done that day but easily maintained with Icing post. Take each day as it comes!"

Matthews is known as one of the best strikers in wrestling today. He was on a roll before he got sidelined, so he'll surely be looking to make up for missed time once he's back. We wish him a smooth recovery.
