It has been reported that AEW made another major signing in 2025. They have brought in a former two-time WWE champion to the company, following her debut last month.
Lacey Lane (fka Kayden Carter) made her debut for the Jacksonville-based promotion in early October when she answered Mercedes Moné's TBS Championship Open Challenge. Despite the valiant effort, she became yet another star to fall to The CEO.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Lane has signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling. A week before her AEW debut, she also made her debut for ROH, challenging Mina Shirakawa, who was still the Interim Women's World TV Champion at the time. The former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion's two solid performances may have been enough to convince Tony Khan to sign her.

Lacey Lane compared her AEW debut to her WWE run
During her appearance on the Wrestling-Wrestling podcast last month, Lacey Lane went into detail as she compared the major difference between her AEW debut and her previous run in WWE.
The most obvious difference was that she was now a singles competitor, having spent a long time in a tag team with Katana Chance during their time with the Stamford-based promotion. Lane revealed that in the past, she put her full focus on tag team wrestling, as this was the legacy she wanted to leave behind in WWE.
"So there's a lot of factors with that, it was an emotional thing for me, but it's a lot of firsts for me. This was the first time I wasn't in a tag team, and so the world has a perception of me as a tag team wrestler, but people don't realise I was on the indies before I got to WWE, and was flourishing as my own individual. In WWE I really focused on tag team wrestling, that was the most important focal point for me, is to see how we can become the most innovative, we wanted to leave a legacy, we wanted to be remembered in WWE for a lot of things, so that was all I focused on."
Now that she is with AEW, it remains to be seen whether Lacey Lane will continue as a singles competitor or eventually find herself in a tag team. She could join forces with any member of the women's division or possibly reunite with Katana Chance if she also makes her way to the company.
