Bobby Lashley should not face former WWE champion in AEW for one major reason, according to veteran

A wrestling veteran believes that Bobby Lashley should not face a former WWE champion in AEW. The veteran made this remark while discussing the main event players in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Bobby Lashley is one of the biggest stars in All Elite Wrestling right now. So far, the Almighty has excelled in tag team competition but now, he is set for a major singles title opportunity at Full Gear 2025. The former AEW World Tag Team Champion will participate in a Casino Gauntlet Match at the pay-per-view, with the winner being crowned the first-ever AEW National Champion. Interestingly, his Hurt Syndicate teammate and former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Shelton Benjamin, will also be competing in the match. However, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette is not too keen on them locking up.

On the latest edition of his Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the veteran discussed the current top stars in the promotion. During that conversation, he mentioned Lashley as one of them. The discussion then shifted to the National Title and the casino gauntlet match, where Cornette said he does not want to see Lashley and the Gold Standard face off, as it could harm their image.

"So I don't want Lashley and Benjamin to face each other in the tournament, because that would hurt their image," said Cornette

Jim Cornette feels Bobby Lashley is a main event guy in AEW

In a separate instance on the Jim Cornette Experience, the WWE veteran discussed the current status of Bobby Lashley in All Elite Wrestling, touching upon how he has been used so far and stating that he's a main event guy.

"Bobby Lashley, one would agree. He's a Main Event guy. He's a former WWE Champion, the people like the Hurt Syndicate. He's got credibility used properly, one would think he could be in the main events," said Cornette [H/T: Wrestling News ].

It will be interesting to see if either Shelton Benjamin or Bobby Lashley can win the Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear 2025 and become the first-ever AEW National Champion.
