Adam Cole's run in AEW has been plagued by a series of injuries that have kept him from reaching his full potential. He first suffered a serious concussion a couple of years ago that sidelined him for several months. After he returned to the ring, he injured his foot and spent the next several months on the shelf. He made his return to the ring last year, and things were finally looking good for him. He formed The Paragon with Roderick Strong and Kyle O'Reilly and then went on to win the TNT Championship. Sadly, at All In: Texas, Adam Cole was forced to relinquish the TNT Championship after suffering another severe concussion. Since then, he has been absent from TV.

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about Adam Cole's status. Sapp responded that he was last informed that the former WWE star was still dealing with the effects of the concussion. Currently, there are no plans for him, and he hasn't been discussed in creative yet. However, Tony Khan likes him and wants to keep him in AEW for as long as he can. He also reported that Cole hasn't been on the road either.

It’s unfortunate that it had to sort of — not end the way it did, because nothing’s ever over… But it’s just such a sad and unfortunate circumstance that what happened at All In but… I’m really proud of Adam (Cole) for making that call and for being the stand-up guy that he is and for taking his health into account and for starting that process to getting well again, and it’s huge and just forever proud of him and grateful that we got to do that again together."
