MVP began his pro wrestling career in the indies back in 2001. He gained prominence during his time in the WWE from 2006 to 2010. The former United States Champion also had a decent run in NJPW and TNA before returning to the Stamford-based promotion in 2020 as a manager and part-time wrestler.

MVP joined AEW last year after the end of his second WWE run, and he carried on the role of a manager, as he is a mouthpiece to The Hurt Syndicate faction, and he occasionally wrestles as well. Meanwhile, MVP has now turned 52, as he receives best wishes for his birthday while being an amazing performer on TV.

MVP on his retirement plans in AEW

While MVP has been wrestling often lately, he apparently has his retirement planned in AEW. Speaking with Yahoo Sports last month, MVP revealed that he talked about his plans with Tony Khan that he wants to put over a young talent on his way out:

“I’ve talked to Tony Khan about this, and he’s a great guy to work for, and I enjoy the relationship that I’ve developed with him. I told him that I’m not retired yet, but at some point I would like to have a feud with someone that I can have the good old-fashioned ‘if I lose, I’ll retire’ angle, so I can go out on my back and give some young, deserving and willing talent the opportunity to say, ‘I retired MVP,’" revealed MVP.

Fans will have to wait and see what's next for MVP in his remaining wrestling career.
