A popular AEW star was attacked by a mysterious individual just moments ago, and this will leave them unavailable for their scheduled match. They were able to be replaced, at least for the moment.

The AEW Men's Blood and Guts match, which is the main event of tonight's show, features the Death Riders taking on Darby Allin and The Conglomeration. This is a five-on-five match with all the competitors set to slug it out inside the unforgiving structure.

Following the entrance of the first two competitors, each side will bring out a new competitor roughly five minutes apart until all 10 men are in the ring. Only then will the match officially begin, and it will only come to an end via submission or surrender.

Mark Briscoe was set to be the third entrant for his side, but he was nowhere to be seen. Renee Paquette and the rest of the Conglomeration found him backstage, clutching his ribs as it looked as if he had just been attacked. He could not go out to compete, so for the time being, it was Roderick Strong who replaced him as the third man.

Later on, Renee reported that The Don Callis Family carried out the attack. Briscoe is set to face Kyle Fletcher at AEW Full Gear next week, and it seems like the group wanted to soften him up some more before then. He was still being tended to, so he was unable to come out right away, even as his side's fifth man.

This meant that later on in the contest, Darby Allin and The Conglomeration were at a 4-on-5 disadvantage. This could not come at a worse time, as the stakes are higher, and this is a match where you need all the help you can get from your teammates.
