A popular AEW star has recently talked about their comeback to the ring, hinting at this coming sooner or later. This comes after their more than four-month hiatus.
Thunder Rosa has not been seen since the Women's Casino Gauntlet match back in July at All In: Texas, as she has been dealing with an injury. Last month, she gave a major update on her condition, noting she was nearing a return to the squared circle.
In her recent Instagram Story update, La Mera Mera shared details about her condition while working out. She mentioned that she was still training for her comeback and had managed to fit in a long training session that day. She also praised her strength and conditioning trainer, noting that they had been making good progress.
“Like I said, I’m training for my comeback. Once again, it’s all good — it’s 80 degrees in Texas. I trained for an hour and started sweating 20 minutes in. Thanks to Melissa, she’s one of my strength and conditioning trainers. She’s freaking awesome.” [H/T RSN]

Thunder Rosa recently spoke about her future inside and outside AEW
During a recent interview with Masks, Mats & Mayhem, the former AEW Women's World Champion briefly spoke about her future and some projects she is pursuing.
Apart from making her AEW in-ring return, Thunder Rosa also spoke about her focusing on her master's degree, some music projects, and a documentary. She appears to have a lot on her plate outside the ring, and she cited these as reasons she wanted to focus on becoming completely healthy.
“And I’m preparing myself to get back in the ring, which is important. I think this year, 2026, is gonna be extremely important. I have to stay healthy for big opportunities to come in the future. What do they look like? I don’t know yet. But for sure, my Master’s degree is coming, that’s for sure, and some music is coming, and a documentary is coming. So, there’s a lot of stuff that we’re working on…” [H/T - Ringside News]
Rosa has missed out on two major milestones for the AEW women's division: the Blood and Guts match and the Women's Tag Team Title Tournament. It remains to be seen what her role could be once she rejoins the division.
