AEW has an immensely talented roster. 2025 has been great for them, and hopefully, they will end this year on a strong note. Their rivalry with WWE is fierce, and it looks like it is going to intensify.
One of AEW's biggest names is former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho. The 55-year-old joined the Jacksonville-based company in 2019. However, reports suggest that his contract is set to expire this month. Furthermore, many believe that he is re-joining WWE.
Former WWE star René Duprée was recently asked about the Chris Jericho situation on his YouTube channel. The 41-year-old said that he believes Y2J will be back at the 2026 Royal Rumble match.
“I think we’re gonna see him debut, Rumble would probably be a great spot for him to comeback,” said Duprée.

Wrestling legend Vince Russo wants to see AEW star Chris Jericho as an authority figure in WWE
On a recent episode of Behind the Turnbuckle, Vince Russo said that if it were in his power, he would have made Chris Jericho an authority figure on Raw and SmackDown. He added that he would have even hired him to the creative team.
“Coach, if it were up to me, because Jericho is such a smart individual, he’s been around the block. He’s seen it all. What I would do is, Chris, you are going to come in an authority role over both brands. You are going to be on both of the shows. And not only that, Chris, I’m going to involve you in the creative. I’m going to ask you, if this were a shoot, what would Chris Jericho be booking? That is what I would do," Russo said.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Jericho. Hopefully, we will get our answer in a few weeks.
