Despite spending years in various major promotions including WCW, TNA and WWE, it appears that Sting holds his AEW stint closest to his heart. The legend spoke about his time in the Jacksonville-based company, and how he was treated by its head honcho Tony Khan, during a recent interview.
It was towards the end of 2020 that Sting made his shocking debut in All Elite Wrestling, saving Dustin and Cody Rhodes, the latter's mentor Arn Anderson, and then-up-and-comer Darby Allin from the onslaught of Team Taz. Over the next few years, The Icon went on a memorable tear in the promotion, competing primarily in tag team matches alongside the face-painted daredevil. His final run saw him win the AEW World Tag Team Titles alongside Darby, and the duo retained the belts in the veteran's retirement bout against The Young Bucks at Revolution 2024.
Even after hanging up his boots, The Stinger has made occasional appearances on AEW programming, saving Allin from The Elite at last year's All In, and aiding his former tag partner against Jon Moxley and The Death Riders at WrestleDream 2025 this October. During a recent interview with Going Ringside, Sting was asked to compare between All Elite Wrestling, WWE and TNA, the various major promotions he had worked for. The Hall of Famer noted that while each company was unique in their own way, he had felt most at home in the Tony Khan-led brand.
“They’re all different in some ways. But the thing that I liked about AEW is it just felt like my brand. It just felt—felt like home to me.”

Sting then heaped praise on TK, shedding light on how the All Elite Wrestling head honcho had treated him, and crediting him for his run in the company.
“He was the best. He was phenomenal. Treated me like gold the whole way through. And yeah, I mean, yeah, if it wasn’t for Tony, I wouldn’t have had the run that I had.” [H/T- Ringside News]
Sting signed a multi-year non-wrestling "licensing" deal with All Elite Wrestling last year.
AEW legend Sting's son wrestled his first indie match last month
While Sting may have wrapped up his pro-wrestling career, one of his sons, Steven Jr., recently began his journey inside the squared circle. After appearing alongside his brother at Revolution 2024 dressed up in the garb of their legendary father, it was revealed that the former Kilgore College tight end had started training for his wrestling career with AEW's Darby Allin.
Last month at DEFY Aeon, Steven Jr. made his debut on the independent circuit, taking on and defeating Kiran Grey, another trainee of Darby's.
