AEW recently made an exciting announcement on tonight's Dynamite. After Full Gear, the Continental Classic returns next Wednesday. The tourney consists of two leagues, blue and gold. Each league has six participants, and the winner of the one-on-one bout earns three points.The title is usually revolved around the Continental title, but as it was unified at All In: Texas last year, the AEW Unified Championship will be on the line. Last year, fans praised the performances of Will Ospreay, Beast Mortos, Ricochet, Komander, and Brody King. The finals took place at Worlds End, where Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay battled in a great, storied match.Despite the Aerial Assassin's efforts, he couldn't capture the Continental Championship. On tonight's Dynamite, the promotion advertised the return of the Continental Classic Tournament. No participants have been confirmed so far, except Kazuchika Okada, who holds the Unified Championship.Veteran praised the concept of the AEW Continental Classic when it startedMany were confused about the Continental Classic when it was announced, since no one knew what was in store for the fans. However, he appreciated the Continental Classic concept."I've got to put AEW over tonight. Before the show started, I knew we were getting this Continental Classic tonight. And I said to myself, 'I'm not a big fan of tournaments.' I'm not that big of a fan of the G1 in New Japan. I have a lot of respect in the world for it; I have all the respect in the world for the talent," he said.It remains to be seen who will participate in this year's tournament.
