Many are under the impression that AEW could face serious problems after Netflix acquired Warner Bros. Discovery. While things seem to be in control for now, a WWE Hall of Famer delivered a huge warning for Tony Khan's promotion down the line.
Eric Bischoff believes that AEW's current TV system could be in trouble due to Netflix and WBD's deal. AEW shows stream on HBO Max, a platform owned by WBD. Meanwhile, the shows are also broadcast on TNT and TBS, which also comes under Warner Bros. As per Bischoff, All Elite Wrestling is in no condition now to make any long-term deals with TNT or TBS as of now. It is due to the fact that the future of the channels is up in the air due to the Netflix acquisition.
Speaking on the 83 Weeks, Bischoff said that WBD would not be signing new deals moving forward. There are high chances that everything that comes under the company would either be paused or stopped completely for a while. Eric Bischoff believes it will put a huge question mark on where All Elite Wrestling would end up once their current TV deal expires.
"What does that do to AEW? Now they’re going into the very end of their contract with their existing partner not having any kind of a serious conversation, because they don’t know where they’re going to end up. They need to keep their costs down. They need to show as healthy of a bottom line as they can," said Bischoff. [H/T: WrestlingNewsSource.Com]
