A prominent AEW star who was absent from the promotion due to injury was recently diagnosed with cancer. The star has now shared an update during their rehab.

The star is Rebel (also known as Tanea Brooks), who is considered an AEW original because she joined the company in 2019, the year it was founded. While Rebel was vital in putting the company's women's division on the map in the early days, the 47-year-old didn't see much TV time in recent years. A few weeks ago, Rebel had uploaded a heartbreaking health update on her Instagram in which she stated that she has primary pulmonary lymphoma, a cancer in the lungs. Now, amid her ongoing rebah, Rebel has provided an update on her situation.

Taking to Instagram, Releb posted a picture of her view and revealed that she does rehab every day from 8 am to 5 pm, but she comes back to her beachside home, easing the tough times she is currently enduring.

"My view tonight. Being in rehab everyday from 8a-5p , coming home to the sound of waves and the sunset creating pink water, makes it all worth it. #ocean #sky #waves #water #rehab #rebel," Rebel wrote on Instagram.

AEW star Rebel was previously misdiagnosed

For those not in the know, Rebel was hospitalized in 2024 for what was suspected to be Cryptococcal Pneumonia. However, after realizing she wasn't improving with the prescribed treatment, the AEW star sought a second opinion at Mayo Clinic, where she discovered it was actually lung cancer.

"As you know, in May of 2024, I was hospitalized for what I thought was cryptococcal pneumonia which is bumble masses on my lungs. I went a year long on antifungals, and after a year of antifungals, I was not getting better....After a year of not getting better, I decided to go to the Mayo Clinic to see if I could get treated by them. They found that it was not cryptococcal pneumonia this whole time and that it is primary pulmonary lymphoma, which is cancer in the lungs," Rebel on Instagram
