9-time WWE champion reveals the real reason why he joined AEW

A former WWE champion joined AEW a few years ago. He has now explained why he made the jump.

Before arriving in AEW, Bryan Danielson made a name for himself in WWE, where he wrestled for several years. Despite his small size, Danielson is a multi-time World Champion in the sports entertainment juggernaut. After a great run in the Stamford-based promotion, Danielson joined AEW in 2021. During this time, he enjoyed quite a bit of success and even won the World Title. Currently, Danielson has settled into his new role as a commentator on Dynamite.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bryan Danielson explained that his biggest reason for leaving WWE was the hectic work schedule, which didn't suit him.

"There was also the idea at the time—you know, the pandemic was just kind of ending and they were starting to do live shows again. I didn’t know if WWE was going to start doing the live events and stuff again, because that schedule… At that point, we had two kids and I was like, I don’t want to do that schedule anymore."

He further added that AEW was only working Wednesdays at that time, and that schedule was appealing to him.

"At AEW, it's just Wednesdays. At that time, it was just Wednesdays and I was was like that was a very appealing schedule to me for my family."

Brie Bella is one of the most popular women in the world of professional wrestling. When Nikki Bella returned to the ring earlier this year, many fans expected that Brie would follow her twin sister, but that hasn't happened.

During the same interview, the former WWE star confirmed that Brie Bella's singles run is over and she would only return to the ring if she could team with Nikki.

“Yeah, only in certain contexts. She doesn’t want to come back and do a singles run or anything like that. If she comes back, she would want to do it with Nicole [Nikki Bella]. But I think there’s something in her too, and I can appreciate this, because our kids see her as just a mom, just a mom, as if that isn’t the hardest job in the world. Part of her, I think, has a desire to have the kids see her in that light too."

It will be interesting to see if Bryan Danielson will ever return to the ring.
