A former WWE champion has stepped away from the ring for a new role. He has now opened up about his in-ring return.
Bryan Danielson's in-ring career has been a topic of speculation for the past several months ever since he lost the World Title to Jon Moxley last year. He has not competed in a televised match and has instead moved to the commentary booth on Dynamite. This has caused fans to wonder whether his in-ring career is behind him permanently.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bryan Danielson was asked about getting neck surgery. The American Dragon said that he never wants to get neck surgery. He also noted that he was doing really well until he started traveling again. However, this has served as a harsh reminder that he is not ready to get back in the ring again.
"I mean I'd like to never get neck surgery. I was actually doing really well until I started traveling more and then it's really gone downhill, you know? I had these delusions about like, 'Okay, maybe I could get back and do a little bit of wrestling or whatever it is.' Now, I see that they were delusions. Like this traveling is like, 'Oh, okay. Yeah, that would not be a good idea," said the former WWE star.

Former WWE Champion Bryan Danielson commented on whether he is retired
Although Bryan Danielson has seemingly indicated that his in-ring career might be over, he has never officially announced his retirement yet. This has caused speculation that he will eventually return to the squared circle again.
During the same interview, Bryan Danielson said that he never considers himself fully retired, and this is how a lot of wrestlers think.
"I hate the R word because I was forced to retire before. So I never consider myself fully retired. This is how I think, and this is how a lot of wrestlers think. Well, I think I could do this in this situation, if needed, or called upon, or whatever it is. But effectively for the Bryan Danielson that I used to be, yeah, that guy doesn’t exist anymore,' said the former WWE star.
The important thing is that Danielson is prioritizing his health and well-being over his desire to compete again.
