A former three-time WWE champion, who is currently involved in a legal dispute with the promotion, has caught attention after revealing some intriguing creative plans that were canceled this year.

That star is Andrade, a former WWE United States Champion, NXT Champion, and Speed Champion. The Mexican star returned to WWE at Royal Rumble 2024 to start a second run with the Stamford-based company. However, things didn't go as planned for El Idolo, and he was released from the company in September of this year. A month later, El Idolo surprised the world by showing up on AEW Dynamite's sixth anniversary show, where he attacked Kenny Omega and joined forces with Don Callis.

However, the 36-year-old has not been seen on AEW programming since, as his return triggered a non-compete clause set by the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut that prevents him from appearing in North American promotions for about 12 months. El Idolo has since been dealing with the same.

During his hiatus, Andrade has stayed active online. In a recent appearance on Eduardo Bates' YouTube channel, he revealed that he was supposed to compete in this year's WWE Worlds Collide event in a four-way match against Vikingo, Ray Fenix, and Oba Femi. He also mentioned that the NXT Title was supposed to be on the line.

Former WWE star Andrade reveals he hasn't signed with AEW

Many believed that Andrade's appearance in AEW after his departure from World Wrestling Entertainment indicated that he had signed a deal with the promotion. In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, analyst Dave Meltzer shared similar thoughts, stating that El Idolo might have just done so. However, the former NXT Champion heard his comments and responded on X, confirming he has definitely not signed any contract.

"@davemeltzerWON I didn't sign any contract! Sir, you say it with such certainty, that I signed a contract, when that's just another one of your lies. Do some more research, Sir. I was in negotiations to sign because Mr. Tony Khan and the AEW team were having good discussions, and we came to an excellent agreement. I'm especially grateful to TK and AEW in general. Then, I received a non-compete clause after my AEW debut and my first match in Tijuana (The Crash), but I want to clarify that I didn't know if that was the issue with WWE (honestly, I don't know the answer to that). Lo mejor para usted!!!

It will be interesting to see when Andrade El Idolo will be eligible to compete again in All Elite Wrestling.
