A 50-year-old WWE veteran could replace Darby Allin in an ongoing AEW competition after Darby got hospitalized. Darby, unfortunately, suffered an injury during his match last week on Dynamite.Last week on AEW Dynamite, Darby Allin squared off against Kevin Knight in the ongoing Continental Classic tournament's gold league match. Knight hit a scary coast-to-coast on Darby, which forced him to be hospitalized, as revealed on commentary this past week. Nevertheless, Allin could be replaced by the former WWE star, Shelton Benjamin.Shelton Benjamin was not announced for this year's Continental Classic despite having competed in the same tournament last year. The Standard of Excellence has already proven that he is still athletic, even after being 50 years old, and his inclusion in the tournament would be a treat for the fans, as they could expect great matches from the veteran.On the other hand, Darby faced a defeat in his match against PAC at Full Gear 2025 before losing to Kevin Knight in the Continental Classic gold league. Allin also competed in the tournament last year, but it seems unlikely that he will be able to continue after being hospitalized due to injury this year.
