The former TNT Champion, who is currently on hiatus from AEW due to outside commitments, has hinted at retiring several times in recent months. In a recent discussion on Inside the Ropes, the Rated-R superstar addressed the mindset behind his choice of opponent and the significance of his last match.

"I want to make sure that whoever it is at the very end, we can put the biggest exclamation point on them possible so they can take that going forward, whoever that is. And I guess just making sure that it sticks." Said Cope [H/T: Ringside News]

As of today, Cope has not announced his retirement plans and is expected to return soon, and remain with Tony Khan's promotion for the foreseeable future.

#3. Jon Moxley set to compete in Continental Classic Tournament

AEW has confirmed what comes next for Jon Moxley following a challenging series of losses in the second half of 2025. The Purveyor of Violence's setbacks began after dropping the AEW World Championship at All In Texas in July. Since then, he has endured a string of high-profile defeats, including an “I Quit” match loss to Darby Allin, submitting during the men’s Blood and Guts match, and most recently tapping out to Kyle O’Reilly in a no-holds-barred match at Full Gear 2025.

The Jacksonville-based promotion officially announced that Moxley will compete in the Blue League of the 2025 Continental Classic (C2). The lineup features top-tier talent: IWGP Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Mascara Dorada. A notable point of intrigue is the inclusion of Claudio Castagnoli, Moxley’s fellow Death Riders member, in the same league.

#2. Rhea Ripley places below Kyle Fletcher in ESPN rankings; Dominik Mysterio ranked No. 1.

A new ESPN feature ranking the top 30 pro wrestlers under 30 has sparked a widespread discussion in the wrestling community. The list, which highlights performers from various promotions, has WWE's Dominik Mysterio at number one.

#1. Tony Chimel leaves AEW after a two year stint

Longtime WWE ring announcer Tony Chimel has quietly indicated that his run with AEW has come to an end. Chimel, best known for his decades of work in the Stamford-based promotion, had joined All Elite Wrestling back in April 2023. His hiring drew attention at the time due to his extensive history with WWE.

During a recent appearance on the All Axxess podcast, Chimel appeared to confirm his departure from the Jacksonville-based promotion.

"I always had a good time there. I mean they’re a little smaller operation and you know, run things a little differently. But the people there are nice. I mean they work you know, I knew a lot of WWE people there that are there now and stuff like that. And it was a nice little run that I had there and very grateful for the time I had there and you know, they do their thing the way they want to do their thing,” said Chinel [H/T - ITR Wrestling]
