Adam Copeland has been absent from AEW for months now. The last time we saw the Rated-R Superstar was at All Out 2025, where he and Christian Cage defeated FTR in what was, at the time, the most anticipated tag match in the recent history of the promotion.
The former Edge was written off All Elite Wrestling programming immediately after the pay-per-view, where he was seen telling his partner, Christian Cage, that he needed to leave to take care of his family. This decision was said to be because of Cope's wife, Beth Phoenix, being brutally attacked by FTR at All Out. However, the real reason was later reported to be that the former TNT champion had left to finish filming a season of Percy Jackson. Now, with Full Gear 2025 looming, there is a chance Tony Khan might bring back both Cope and Christian at the PLE to interfere in the AEW World Tag Team Title match between Brodido and FTR, and cost Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler the titles.

There is a lot of unresolved tension between FTR and Cope and Christian's team, and the Rated-R Superstar might seek revenge on the former Tag Team Champions at Full Gear for what they did to his wife. That said, Cope's return is speculative, and time will reveal how the promotion plans to reintroduce him.
Tony Khan says Adam Copeland will be with AEW for the foreseeable future.
Amid Adam Copeland's absence from AEW, rumors have circulated about his future with the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, in a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan addressed Adam Copeland's ongoing hiatus and reaffirmed that he will remain part of his promotion for the foreseeable future.
"Adam's going to be here with us through the year. Adam Copeland is a huge part of AEW, and I have so much respect for him. I really, really like Adam a lot, and I'm glad to have him here. Even though he's away filming, he's still with us and will continue to be," he said. [H/T - Ariel Helwani on X]
Fans are eagerly awaiting Cope's return to Tony Khan's promotion, and Khan's comments are sure to reassure them of his future in the promotion.
